Oskar Kolberg visited the city of Przemyśl and neighbouring towns, villages and estates in the years 1861, 1863 and between 1883-85. He gathered a rich collection of songs, rituals, customs, folktales, instrumental music, as well as descriptions of beliefs. He enjoyed the hospitality of a few members of gentry. He stayed several times with the Kraiński family in Leszczowate, the Załędkis in Iskania and the Jaruzelskis in Sanoczany.
